Sakamoto Ryoma Illustration Exhibition 
Sakamoto Ryoma Fan Club in Los Angeles presents the illustration of Sakamoto Ryoma exhibition on September 25 and 26, from 1 pm - 4:30 pm, at Nishi Hongwanji Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, 815 East First Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, (213) 680-9130. Admission free.
 
Sakamoto Ryōma (January 3, 1836 - December 10, 1867) was a leader of the movement to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate during the Bakumatsu period (mid 19th century)  in Japan. Ryōma used the alias Saidani Umetarō as a cover name during his work to keep Japan united in the creation of a modern government which would allow his country to join the rest of the world which was in a colonizing mode, while keeping its own sovereignty intact. Over 40 illustrations of Ryoma were drawn by Yasuhito Sumiya of Japan. The artworks for sale.
 
Iai demonstration will be performed by Susumu Suzuki of Owari Shinkage School.
