Cultivating a right attitude toward the government

June 10, 2011

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Romans 13:1

I hear lots of people complaining about the government today. But while you and I as Americans have every right to voice our opinion on the issues of the day, it’s so important that we be sure to do it with the right perspective on the God-given role of our government leaders.

The Bible tells us that we should pray for the governing authorities. So let me ask you this, when is the last time you prayed for the president? Have you prayed for the members of the Congress? Have you prayed for your local and state leaders? It’s easy to complain and criticize, but it is the call of the Christian to also pray for those in authority!

Not only that, it’s also the responsibility of Christians to be good citizens. You do this by voting in elections and by paying your taxes. Now I know paying taxes may not be your favorite thing, but when you consider the blessings that we have as Americans, I will gladly pay my taxes for those privileges.

God has placed us here to be salt and light. And one of the best ways you can do that is by submitting yourself to the governmental authorities and praying for your leaders every day!

GOD HAS INSTITUTED GOVERNMENTAL AUTHROITIES FOR A REASON. SO PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS AND BE A GOOD CITIZEN!
