Living Leviticus: Who Could Do It? Who Would Want To?
Cathleen Falsani
No one can be perfect by following Leviticus' laws. One congregation learned by trying that they're impossible. And realizing that leads, necessarily, to the understanding that no one can be perfect apart from God's grace.

Commentary

Liberty - Not Just Freedom - for Egypt
John Mark Reynolds
The West is selling the illusion of freedom to the world, but not the demands of liberty. Any freedom without individual moral character or agreed-upon societal moral standards will eventually degenerate into tyranny and worse.

Why Multiculturalism Can't Work
Chuck Colson
Multiculturalism is the antithesis of American culture because it denies the need for the "one" of e pluribus unum, which is unity, and a shared commitment to the American creed.

Waiting for "Superman" Explores How to Save Public Education
Christa Banister
Whether or not viewers wholeheartedly agree with how documentarian Davis Guggenheim actually goes about proving his thesis, Waiting for "Superman" is still an important and compelling look at the current state of public education -- unsightly warts and all.

Abuse, Trafficking Tackled in Deadly Ties
Kelley Mathews
Deadly Ties tackles two heavy subjects. The first few chapters introduce readers to characters who have suffered emotional and physical abuse. Even more difficult to swallow is the all-too-real depiction of human trafficking.

Today's Devotional

A Delayed Reward (from "HomeWord, with Jim Burns")
If we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently (Rom. 8:25).

This life, precious and serious though it is, is not our reward. That comes later.

Finding Christ throughout the Scriptures

February 18, 2011

And (Jesus) said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?" And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

Luke 24:25-27

As a pastor, I've spoken with so many people who are burnt out when it comes to spending time in God's Word. And many times when I ask them what they've been reading, they'll only mention the New Testament books.

So I ask them, "Why don't you ever read the Old Testament?"

"It's too boring," they'll say. "The New Testament is so much more uplifting and practical."

But the Old Testament is anything but boring. In fact, reading the New Testament without reading the Old Testament is a bit like seeing the sequel to a movie without ever watching the first part!

The Bible is the great story of God's redemption. And throughout the pages of the Old Testament and the New Testament, the message of eternal life is given and Jesus is always present. Standing somewhere in the shadows, in types, in pictures, and in prophecies, the Lord Jesus Christ reveals himself in the Old Testament.

So don't neglect some of God's richest love letters to you because when you read the Old Testament, you may be surprised how often you see Christ!

MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO SPEND TIME READING THE WHOLE BIBLE BECAUSE EVERY STORY POINTS TO JESUS CHRIST!
