Question by Bhan Zetti:
Doctor ordered so a lot of tests i did not know. Bill is ,323.70 I have no insurance. What can I do please?
Im a 29 years old male. I live in New york (queens). I am a healthy individual. But one particular nigth before going to sleep i felt like I could not breath. It lasted a couple of minutes but I felt so alarmed. It was thursday sept 17.I went to a private physician monday sep 21 my girlfriend recomended me that charge me $ 175 . Ok It is fine. It was the very first time I am going to the physician right here in America . I live here for 8 years. I explained to the physician that I am a complete time worker and my very first semester as a complete time student. I explained maybe i felt that simply because I operate and study so much. Nicely he said the issue is that I have a sinus infection and gave me amoxicilin and a small intranasal factor i do not remember.
I went home and my girlfriend asked me what he prescribed I said amoxicilin she sounded alarmed, i even though amixicilin was a kind of aspirine or one thing. So I referred to as and asked, the physician wanst there, and the female nurse said i have a sinus infection because i said i coudnt breath 1 day. I dont know but I dont have confidence on that physician. Ok I keep in mind the nurse took my pressure , my excess weight, my pulse, they analyze my heart beat, she place one thing on my mouth to check how strong is my breath and they took a lot of blood from my rigth arm. I stay with her for about 20 minutes total then the medical physician came and speak to me. Total time with the medical physician 15 minutes. He check my back and my chest, i opened my mouth and he check my ear. he touched my belly asking me if a feel any anguish i said no. The medical physician said i seemed fine. But he said possibly is a sinus infection and he prescribed what i explained prior to. Following I took amoxicilin i had diarrea 2 days right after i started. I felt my stomach inflated each single time i ate so i made the decision im not going to take that. I named the physician he wasnt there so i did not take that anymore.
Because I was a new pacient I signed three papers, i remember 1 my private information, second one if i have alergies and the third one particular insurance. 1 of the papers had the question why i came there. The list had like 50 or much more checkmarks i marked just one : dizzy. I said dizzy because the nigth that happend to me that i felt dizzy. The physician comprehends that i am an immigrant and i do not have insurance, i am an independent worker and an insurance it is quite pricey like 400 dollars a month the least pricey one. I make about 10 dollars an hour working. So for me it is high-priced.
He said that if i have insurance he could make a lot of tests. He mentioned that simply because i have no insurance he will try to not to charge a lot. He did not explained to me how a lot of test he could carry out and how it is going to be exactly. I know 1 test is going to be cholesterol. I believed maybe three or 4 test. I really feel stupid i do not know how this program works. My girlfriend was mad at me for not asking several concerns. But i felt that simply because she recomended me it is going to be alright. I am sorry because i did not know what amoxicilin was. I said i thought is was like aspirin. By the way i do not take medicines, no flu shots, only when i have a cold some teraflu o a thing like that but it is like possibly the moment a year. I think about myself wholesome, my mother and father are Ok they are on their 60s.
Ok lastly my dilemma is I just received a bill from BIOREFERENCE LABORATORIES NJ from 1,323,70 dollars. It lists 11 test. a single of them is EBV panel that fees 380.50. What can I do know???? DO i have to pay all that money even even though I did not order it. Please let me know I dont know what to do. That is a lot of funds. For now on I favor to go to the hospital it is less pricey there but i have to wait almost all day.
Anyway I am ready to fight this bill. But I dont know how to begin. My follow up appointment is coming and I want to know what to say. thank you extremely much.
PLEASE Help ME OUT…
by the way, is there several individuals with a case like mine?
Please do not blame me for not getting insurance. I want to have it but it is costly. Im one particular of those 47 million uninsure of this country. If it is a reasonable cost I could pay. Apparently for other individuals 400 dollars a month is nothing. God bless them.
yet another QUESTION? is there a way I can complaint for a medical physician who ordered 10 20 or 30 test. Apparently a physician can do whatever he wants. Who can put a limit on the price a pacient has to pay?
Only reminding that I went to a private physician workplace, not to a hospital. Thank you.

Think about yourself lucky your bill was only 1300$ sometimes men and women go to the ER and come back with bills in the 10,000$ ‘s you do not have to pay it of course but it will impact your credit score if you don’t. But if your an illegal immigrant it will not matter because you do not have a ssn and a credit score anyways. And even though you did not order the tests personally you did sign a paper authorizing the ER to treat you and so with that paper the physician has the authority to order any tests he see’s fit to establish what is incorrect with you and you are responsible for the cost due to the fact you signed a consent to treat form. All ER’s have you sign this paper, look by way of the paperwork you brought home it’s in there somewhere. By the way Amoxicillian is an antibiotic(1 of the less pricey ones) and it is utilised to fight specific ailments. But normally for a sinus infection the greatest cure is time, and just let it run it’s course. I know you say health insurance is too expenisve but think about it for 400$ a month you get insurance and if you have to go to the ER you might only pay 100$ vs 1300$ it can be a good deal. You should get insurance it will save you funds. What if your in an accident? Most auto wrecks and such can price thousands of dollars to treat. The insurance is worth it i advocate you get some.
PS. i do not know what hospital the girl below’s friends went to but i know at my location of employment wich is the only hospital in the say that requires individuals without having insurance they do not forgive anything. They might possibly inform you , that you do not have to pay but analyze your credit report and i’m confident it will say someplace on it defaulted medical bills. It’s in the fine print. Most hospitals do not just let bills go away.
PS 2: It is not the very same everywhere, i perform at 1 of the biggest Hospitals in the say of Oklahoma, and i know for a reality they do not just forgive debt. They might knock of a couple thousand if you have insurance and make monthly payments. But otherwise you typically owe the bill.
EDIT three: I am not blaming you for not acquiring insurance, but i am merely saying it is economical. As for the physician and what he can order, yes they can order what ever tests they want to try and treat you. By going to a private physicians workplace you are inlisting his assist and so when you initial become a patient you fill out paper perform, in that paperwork someplace is a clause that states you consent to therapy this offers physicians the correct to order what ever tests and services they want. This is how all medical physicians offices, hospitals, ER’s function. You just will need to call the doc’s office like the girl below recommended and try and plead your case. Perhaps they might let some of the bill go or “write” it off. It is worth a shot. I am just giving you common understanding i have about the inner working’s of a hospital and how they handle bills. Most medical offices and hospitals do not just let debt go. Also there is no limit on what a patient can have to pay, i’ve seen individuals with no insurance get in horrible automobile accidents and devote weeks in Intensive care units and owe hundreds of thousands of dollars. I watched a one-of-a-kind on TV (dateline) once about uninsured young adults and a single girl had a car accident and spent 2 months in a coma and her hospital bill was practically one million dollars with all the surgeries and issues she had to have to live, this is genuine and she was expected to pay it. This is how health care performs unfotunatley.

You can call them and inform them that you honestly can’t afford to pay for it, there is no way about it.
My mother’s co-worker’s daughter had a $ 20,000 operation and they forgave $ 17,000 of this.
My girlfriend racked up $ 10,000+ in the ER this summer and she called them and they forgave all of it.
attempt giving the hospital a call
edit Im from Alaska, but i visualize its the same anywhere.
edit2 i know that my girlfriend is super conscious about her credit, and i highly doubt she would have asked them to forgive it if it would tarnish her credit badly. But now I am curious as to why we “get away” with it.
