University Women's group accepting scholarship applications
 
The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) is currently accepting applications for 2010 scholarships. 
 
AAJUW was founded in 1970 to promote the education of women, as well as to contribute to U.S. - Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and development of leadership. 
 
Every year, since the founding of the organization, scholarships have been awarded to outstanding female students. 
 
For this year each awardee will receive a $1,500 scholarship.
 
Qualifications
1. Must be a female student enrolled in an accredited California college or university

2. Must have junior, senior or graduate standing by Fall 2010

3. Must attend, at own expense, the award ceremony held on Sunday, January 23, 2011, in Los Angeles.

4. Shall be a contributor to U.S. - Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and the development of leadership in the area of her designated field

5. Has never received AAJUW scholarship before
 
Necessary Documents
1. Scholarship Application Form (Download at www.aajuw.org)

2.Current resume

3. An official transcript for the past two years of study to be sealed and sent directly by the college/university to AAJUW

4. Two letters of recommendation, addressed to AAJUW.  One must be written by a professor in your major field of study

5.  An essay on one of the following topics:
A. What I hope to accomplish in my field of study to develop leadership and role model       qualities
B. Thoughts on how my field of study can contribute to U.S.-Japan relations & benefit             international relationships
 
Note:  In writing your essay, please give specific examples to clarify your ideas. 
Limit:  Two typewritten pages (8 ½ x 11, double-spaced) in English or 1,200 characters in Japanese
 
Deadline and Submission
 
All required documents including official transcripts and letters of recommendations must be received by October 31, 2010 by the chair listed below. 
 
This year's recipients will be announced and notified by the first week of December, 2010.
