Youth Program Coordinator

 
General Description
The Arab Cultural and Community Center (ACCC) is seeking an experienced, bilingual, competent and caring person to be part of team for a comprehensive youth development program for school-age youth. He/she will be responsible for coordinating and implementing an after school program that integrates academic skills and uses the resources to improve the youth academic and communication skills.He/ she will outreach to Bay area schools, community based organizations, mosques and churches to inform and enroll youth in ACCC Youth Academic and Cultural Empowerment programs.
 
Responsibilities
 
Work with the youth program director and staff to implement a comprehensive youth development program including academic studies, extra curricular activities and field trips for youth ages five through eighteen.
  • Foster relationships among local schools, universities, businesses and other community youth and education programs to enhance development of the program.
  • Develop and implement outreach plan for elementary, high and middle schools.
  • Tutor students in small groups and one on one in after school sessions.
  • Co-facilitate school-based activities at the participating schools.
  • Enter youth data and narrative in the DCYF online system on a monthly basis.
  • Attend school events and community events as necessary.
  • Conduct Cultural Competency workshops and presentations when needed.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision..
  • Develop a yearly plan of action
  • Provide programming and leadership for the k-12 grade youth including academic studies, extracurricular activities and field trips
  • Plan and carry out at least one special event with schools per year
  • Maintain a master calendar of basic information for all youth activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
Additional qualifications include; an understanding of the needs of immigrant, low-income families, a passion for mentoring youth, and a vision for program development
 
Requirements
  • Minimum Educational Requirement:  Four year college education
  • Leadership and management experience in a youth service K-12 educational setting
  • Highly positive and enthusiastic style capable of motivating others
  • Skills and energies to lead effective training
  • ability to work cooperatively with program staff and volunteers
  • At least one year experience in outreach or related work with youth.
  • Experience working in a community-based and multicultural setting.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Complete criminal record clearance and fingerprinting.
 
Skills 
  • Ability to work in multiple tasks.
  • Self motivator and ability to engage youth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse population.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Experience in providing direct services to youth
  • Experience and/or understanding of the development of educational programs in non-profit of K-12 settings
