Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu is a Japanese martial art that first became widely known in the early 20th century from the influence of Sokaku Takeda.  It is best known as the technical foundation of modern aikido.  Primarily it is an empty-handed system featuring throws, pins, control holds and other self-defense techniques.

The program for children instills the fundamentals of Daito-ryu techniques, etiquette and discipline. Kids will experience the physical and mental benefits of marital arts in a safe and fun environment.

Mark Sumi is the instructor for the Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu of Los Angeles, Los Angeles branch of the Shimbukan dojo, located in Tokyo.  The Shimbukan dojo is currently under the direct supervision of Katsuyuki Kondo Sensei.  For further information regarding the Shimbukan dojo, go to www.daito-ryu.org.
