"Music and Dance of Edo" at Norton Simon, Sept. 10

(Courtesy of the artists) | The Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena presents "Music and Dance of Edo" by the Japanese Traditional Performing Arts Organization on Friday, Sept. 10, at 7:00 pm in conjunction with the current woodblock print exhibition "Hiroshige: Vision of Japan." Admission free with a museum admission. Seats are open as first come first serve. Master performers Wakana Hanayagi, Jyorokusho Kineya, Kikusa Katada and Yasoyo Kineya of the Japanese Traditional Performing Arts Organization present a concert of traditional Japanese music and dance in a Japanese theater setting. Included are musical pieces for nagauta, the ensemble that traditionally accompanies kabuki theater performances, and for koto.
