| | | Dear omss, The Asian Cultural Council's work in promoting cultural exchange and dialogue through the universal language of the arts is as relevant today as it was when John D. Rockefeller 3rd founded the ACC. With the advancements in communication and travel, exchanges between countries and cultures have only increased our interconnectedness. The possibilities for artistic collaboration between America and Asia, and also among Asian countries will grow. There is a wider platform for cultural exchange and dialogue as well as opportunities for a deeper appreciation of the diversity in Asian cultures as well as the similarities shared by the 21 Asian countries we have worked with. After co-chairing the Friends Committee for three years, I have joined the ACC Hong Kong as Director of External Relations. It is is a privilege to work with so many talented and passionate artists and people in the arts from so many different parts of the world. It is also an honor to continue to be a part of the ACC Hong Kong legacy my father Kenneth Fung started in Hong Kong 23 years ago which was made possible through his friendship with David Rockefeller Jr. in their school days. Through the ACC I have come to learn from business, arts and cultural leaders, and artists. The work at ACC brings new challenges to the team that stretches our creativity to help make a difference in an artists life. Witnessing the ripple effect and benefits these artists bring to their work and society after an ACC experience is what motivates me each day.
Enjoy our last newsletter of 2010. See how busy we've been and enjoy seeing what are grantees are up to!
Best wishes,
Marissa Fung Shaw ACC/Hong Kong
