Cultural Outreach Assistant
Job Description

 
 
Job Responsibilities
The cultural outreach assistant is responsible for assisting the Cultural Program Manager with outreach and coordination of ACCC events such as the annual banquet, the annual Arab Cultural Festival as well as monthly events at the ACCC. Job duties may include but are not limited to:
 
Outreach/Events
·         Prepare email and mailings and distribute them for publicizing events.
·         Participate in events meetings
·         Assists Cultural program Manager with outreach and coordinating the events
·         Assist with producing print and design materials for events such as flyers, postcards, etc
·         Tabling at community events to do outreach for ACCC programs and events
 
Website/Community Calendar
Responsible for collecting event information to post on Community Calendar, and sending out community email announcements to ACCC email list
Responsible for submitting website updates for events to website person and preparing event emails
 
Newsletter
Responsible for proofreading, editing and submitting the newsletter to the printer, including collecting photos and text from contributors
May be responsible for forming newsletter committee
 
Membership Promotion
Promote and develop strategies to promote ACCC membership
Participate in community events, and recruit volunteers to participate and to promote membership
 
Recruiting and managing volunteers 
Create volunteer training and scheduling protocols for Center events and programs
Compile a volunteer list and recruit volunteers for various  ACCC events
Outreach to youth on college campuses to create a youth volunteer corps who will help organize youth events
 
Special Project (ARC) requirement    
·         Select a project in an area of interest  that relates to the ACCC
·         Prepare a work plan for the ARC project in accordance with the ARC requirement and training and share with supervisor
 
Database for all community artists, musicians and contributors to cultural events
Research and gather information on artists, authors and performers for possible events
Classify by genre to add to Salesforce database
 
Required Skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, and basic internet/email skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of Arab culture and language preferred
 
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED certificate or agree to achieve GED within the year
Minimum of 17 years of age, US citizen or permanent resident status.
 
Benefits:    
$10,600 living allowance, an education award of $ 4,725 upon completion of their 1,700 hours of service, health insurance and subsidized child care if eligible
