Kali Puja next weekend on Nov 6

Dear , We will be celebrating Kali Puja on November 6, 2010 at Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center in San Ramon. Arnab Chakraborty who had visited us during NABC 2009 will be performing on that day. This program is free for members. Our cultural programs start at 5:30pm that day, and will end with dinner at 9:00pm. Arnab's program is at 7:00pm. Arnab Chakraborty - a singing sensation A singing sensation in the making…that’s Arnab Chakraborty! He won the coveted title in Sony Entertainment Television's reality music show, K For Kishore. He hails from Kolkata, a regular live performer since the age of 15. Arnab Chakraborty started his career by singing advertisement jingles, remixes and regional movie songs.Within a few years of hard work Arnab got the big break he was waiting for. His song Wada Raha Pyar Se Pyar Ka from the film Khakee released in the year 2004 climbed the popularity charts very quickly and he was nominated for : 1.The Best Male Playback Singer at The Zee Cine Awards 2005 held at The Excel Arena in London 2. The Best Male Playback Singer at The Stardust Awards 2005. His next offering was Qatra Qatra from the movie FAMILY (2006), music by Ram Sampath and directed by RAJKUMAR SANTOSHI. Like in Khakee he is the voice of Akshay Kumar in Family too.   Food arrangements at Kali Puja You may have noticed that we had made considerable progress to improve the quality of food at Durga Puja. We did so by moving to smaller vendors and having multiple vendors serve during big events. However this approach comes with some downsides and we need your cooperation to overcome those. Small vendors need a correct estimate of the number of plates they need to prepare so that they can minimize food wastage and thus loss. Therefore we request our valued members to provide us that information beforehand so that we can provide our vendors a correct estimate by Saturday. Patron Members: Food is covered in your membership and we are assuming that you will come and have food. So if you are NOT attending Kali Puja, please let us know by sending a mail to food@prabasi.org. This will help us minimize food wastage. Please do so by Thursday Nov 4. Standard Members: Food at Kali Puja is not covered in your membership costs. Thus if you intend to have dinner that day at the venue, you have to purchase food coupons in advance. You can buy food coupons by going to our food coupon purchase page. Cost per plate is $10.00 for members. Since the vendor is going to make food for only confirmed people, please help us plan better and serve you properly by making your food coupon purchase by Nov 4. Non-members: If you are not a member of Prabasi and planning to attend our Kali Puja and have dinner over there, please buy the food coupon by Nov 4.  Otherwise, you may not get any food to purchase.  Price of dinner per person will be $12.00 for non-members.
