Volume 2 (Biographies): $35

Buy both volumes: $55.95

(20% savings)

We culled through 15 years of Russian Life to select readers’ and editors’ favorite stories and biographies for inclusion in a special two volume collection. Totalling over 1100 pages, these two volumes encompass some of the best writing we have published over the last two decades, and include the most timeless stories and biographies – those that can be read again and again.

Indeed, the over 150 stories and biographies in this unique two-volume collection combine to offer a rich, multi-faceted portrait of Russian culture, history and society.

Volume I includes 76 stories on history and culture, from banyas to vodka, from Tsarism to the Bolshevik Revolution, from cultural traditions to social upheavals.

Volume II, includes 78 timeless biographies of Russians who have shaped the country’s history and culture, from artists and poets, to entrepreneurs, rulers, spies and favorites.

Chtenia Year 1

We discovered a few more back issues of the first year issues of Chtenia than we thought we had. So we are bundling them in this limited quantity offer. You get each of the first four issues of Chtenia (themes: Dogs, Spring, Road Trips, Childhood) for the ridiculous price of $19.95. A subscription costs $35 and the normal back issue cost would be $48, so this is a real steal.

A great way to introduce yourself to Chtenia, or a great Christmas gift to buy now and set aside.

2012 Wall Calendar

This year, the Russian Life Wall Calendar returns to Moscow for the first time in over five years. Featuring the work of eight Russian photographers, we follow Russia's colorful and vibrant capital city through the seasons, from fall at Novodevichy Monastery to summer on Red Square and winter in the Kremlin.

Our choice of theme is very deliberate: 2012 is the 865th anniversary of Moscow's birth, the 400th anniversary of its 1612 recapture from Polish invaders by a movement of national liberation (thus the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square), and the 200th anniversary of its destruction at Napoleon's hand (soon avenged by Russian troops marching down Paris' Champs Elysees).
