In addition, enjoy the Japanese New Year tradition of mochitsuki, which is the pounding of sweet rice into paste and molded into shape.  Mochi is a traditional food enjoyed on New Year's Day in Japan.

In addition, yakisoba (Japanese noodles), chilli rice and other food booths will be available.  Children can enjoy making kites and origami (the art of paper folding) at the arts and crafts stations.  Several of the shops and restaurants will be open in Little Tokyo.

A new addition to the festivities is the first ever 'Happy New Year in Little Tokyo Lucky Sake Tasting' event which will be held at the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Special advanced sales tickets are:  $20 per person, and $35 per couple.  At the door, the cost is $40 per person.  For more information:  Email:  AllJapanNews@gmail.com or call (213) 680-0011.
