The wonderful blessing of children
November 19, 2010
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth.
Psalm 127:3-4
There isn't much that compares to the blessing of having children. Yet so often today, the world cries, "Children are a burden, so don't inconvenience me with them and ruin my fun." In fact, children are seen as such an inconvenience that our society says it's probably best to just kill them if you aren't sure you're ready.
Yet the Bible paints a very different picture of what it means to have children. The Scripture tells you and me that children are a blessing from God. And as a father myself, I couldn't agree more!
Now, I understand that there are married couples out there today who are seeking God's will and waiting on his timing to have children. But I've also spoken with other couples who don't want kids because they would be too difficult, too expensive, or too much of a hassle. I even talk to parents who already have children and constantly complain about how much of an inconvenience their children are!
God wants you to take joy in your children. Yes, raising kids requires work and an emotional investment. But that investment will reap tremendous rewards!
BE APPRECIATIVE OF THE AMAZING BLESSING OF CHILDREN!
