Believing that God will give you His best
November 11, 2010
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
Psalm 23:1-2
You know, it's a funny thing about sheep. They won't drink water that is moving. So you could lead a flock of thirsty sheep to a flowing stream and they will die from dehydration!
That little fact really sheds light on what it means to be led beside still waters, doesn't it? God is our loving shepherd who knows what you need and provides for you in a way you can receive it. For example, God knows it's impossible for you and me to live a life pleasing to him on our own, so he gives us the Holy Spirit to empower us to do that.
And God's provision is not just spiritual. In a very real way, God cares for each need you have. It can be easy to begin to take the credit for your accomplishments in life and forget God is the one who is the provider!
God loves you and wants the best for you. Every good and perfect gift comes from him (James 1:17). So when you receive blessings from God, he wants you to use them for his glory. Trust in his provisions for today, and use them to further his Kingdom purposes.
THANK GOD FOR HIS PROVISION IN YOUR LIFE AND USE HIS GIFTS FOR HIS GLORY.
