The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center hosts an exhibition of the work of Hayahiko Takase, architect of many of the landmark buildings of Little Tokyo, to include the Kajima building, Higashi Honganji, the New Otani (current Kyoto Grand Hotel) and the Miyako Hotel, Little Tokyo Plaza and the anticipated Budokan of Los Angeles.
Born in Tokyo in 1930, Takase earned his degree in architecture from the University of Tokyo in 1953 and a master's degree in architecture from Harvard University in 1956. He has won many awards in his long career as well as been a driving force in the community.
This program is made possible in part by support from UCLA Paul I. and Hisako Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, Little Tokyo Service Center, and the Little Tokyo Historical Society.
Gallery Hour: Tuesday-Friday, 12 noon - 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm, Closed Mondays and Holidays.
