Santa Barbara's Asian American Cultural Program, Sept 11 Presidio Pastimes Special Asian American Presidio Neighborhood Pastimes Saturday, September 11, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park 123 East Canon Perdido Street, Santa Barbara, CA www.sbthp.org Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation continues the "Sharing Our Common Ground: Asian American History in Santa Barbara County" series with the first ever Presidio Pastimes emphasizing Asian American history in the Presidio Neighborhood! Come watch the ceremony of mochi pounding (10 a.m.), hear taiko drummers (11 a.m.), witness the martial art of Aikido with Ki (noon), see a dragon dance team (1 p.m.), and participate in a Japanese folk dance (1:30 p.m.). Activities include: Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, bonsai display, shakuhachi (Japanese flute music), haiku writing, origami, and assorted children's crafts. Food will be available from Studio Nihon. Enjoy this culturally-rich day!
