Happy Grandparents Day!
September 10, 2010
... Bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
--1 Peter 3:9
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to speak at an event that was only 30 miles from the town where I was born and raised. So I drove to that town and went to the little house where my parents and I lived with my grandfather and knocked on the door.
When I introduced myself, the woman living there was very kind to invite me inside for a little memory tour. And the first thing I wanted to do was to see my grandfather's room.
It was a powerful moment to stand in the place where my grandfather's rocker had rested all those years ago. When I was a little boy, he would put me in his lap and read the Scriptures to me and tell me the stories of Jesus. Even then I knew we were on holy ground.
Now, I don't know where our family legacy of faith started, but my grandfather and parents certainly continued it. They made it a priority to bless their children with the knowledge and hope that's ours in Christ. And that legacy continues today with Deb's and my children.
Your ability to bless the generations is within reach! Teach your children and grandchildren the stories of Jesus and what it means to live a life that matters. And long after you've taken your place in heaven, generations will call you blessed.
YOUR ABILITY TO BLESS THE GENERATIONS IS WITHIN REACH!
