We are thrilled to announce that a new multimedia performance of PAPER ANGELS will be coming to San Francisco Chinatown! Coordinated and performed by CCC partners at Direct Arts, a New York City based theater and film company, the performance will be held from Wednesday September 15th through Friday September 17th in Portsmouth Square. PAPER ANGELS  was written by San Francisco native Genny Lim. Set in 1915, the play explores the consequences surrounding the Chinese Exclusion Act, and its portrayal of the immigrant experience is as pertinent today as it was groundbreaking when first performed in 1982. The play will be performed in the heart of Chinatown as a part of the San Francisco Fringe Festival and will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Angel Island. Performances of PAPER ANGELS are entirely FREE to the public. Be sure to catch one of our upcoming membership events this fall!   Our 2010 fall membership drive, led by the Membership and Development Committee of the CCC Board of Directors, has planned a series of exciting events for the fall of 2010. All members are welcome to invite potential new additions to the CCC family as guests to any of these events.   September 25, 2010 The CCC is excited to announce our first ever Membership Drive kickoff luncheon on Saturday, September 25 from 12-2 pm. Join us for an early afternoon meet and greet where you will meet our staff and board members and be treated to a lunch catered by the famous Richmond-based Clement Restaurant for an afternoon of family oriented fun. Artists Kan Kwok Fan and Stella Zhang, whose work was featured in the CCC gallery during the first half of our year, will also attend as special guests. Following the luncheon is the opening reception for our final exhibition of the year, artist Pat Tseng's "Emblems of Ethereal Grace," which blends ancient Chinese jade, jewels and carvings with elements of contemporary design. Don't miss this special opportunity to get to know the CCC family and the wonderful artists who contribute to the magic of our center. Following in the tradition of our H&B events in years past, our 2010 gala will be a night celebrating our members as well as highlights from the past year of CCC and Chinatown Community accomplishments. There will be an auction featuring a selection of wine, artwork by local and CCC featured artists, and more. This year's celebration will be held at the Empress of China Restaurant in historic Portsmouth Square. Be sure to bring to bring all the wine aficionados in your life for an early evening sampling of quality wines and artisan cheeses.
