April 3, 2011 Takács Quartet with Nobuyuki Tsujii-World-renowned string ensemble Takács Quartet delivers classic repertoire with drama, warmth and humor. The group returns to UCLA Live for a program of Haydn's String Quartet Op. 74 No. 3 and Bartok's String Quartet No. 1 and will perform with a very special guest soloist. Joining the Takács Quartet for Schumann's Piano Quintet is Japanese virtuoso Nobuyuki Tsujii in his Los Angeles premiere. Born blind, the 22-year-old prodigy began his study at the age of 4 and won the gold medal in the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Cliburn himself says of Tsujii: "Miracle is the only word to describe him. This is truly the act of God." UCLA Live at Royce Hall, 340 Royce Drive, Westwood.
